The goal of doing this was to promote public awareness of hearing loss induced by noise exposure, how to prevent it and how to care for your overall hearing health. The AAA believes that observing Audiology Awareness Month will help eradicate cases of preventable <a href=\"https:\/\/mthoodent.com\/hearing\/hearing-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>About the American Academy of Audiology<\/h3>\n<p>The AAA is the world\u2019s largest professional organization of, by and for audiologists. They serve as the collective voice in the field of audiology. The organization is committed to advancing the science, practice and accessibility of hearing and balance health for patients, and their mission is to provide quality hearing care through professional development, education, research and increased public awareness of audiologic disorders.<\/p>\n<h2>How You Can Participate in Audiology Awareness Month<\/h2>\n<p>Follow our tips below to participate in Audiology Awareness Month and take steps to preserve and protect your hearing health.<\/p>\n<h3>Protect Your Hearing<\/h3>\n<p>There are several ways you can protect your hearing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Follow the 60\/60 rule. <\/strong>This rule applies when listening to music, podcasts, audiobooks and other media through earbuds or headphones. It states you should listen at no more than 60% of the device\u2019s maximum volume for no more than 60 minutes at a time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wear hearing protection.<\/strong> If you work in a noisy occupation or if you enjoy noisy hobbies, like attending sporting events, be sure to always wear hearing protection.
